SUMMIT OVERVIEW

The Northern Arizona Anti-Hunger Summit is a one-day gathering that brings together tribal leaders, nonprofit organizations, health professionals, educators, students, and community advocates committed to addressing hunger and food insecurity across the region.

In 2024, we deepened our investment in long-term solutions with the Hunger Action Partnership (see below), a coalition formed after last year’s NAAHS Summit, to build resilience across northern Arizona. We hope to build on that commitment in this year’s summit as we introduce our theme, Planting Seeds for Resilience. This theme underscores our dedication to authentic, community-driven change. We are committed to amplifying the voices of those with lived experiences, supporting individuals who actively nourish their communities, and connecting with changemakers across the region.

The objective of this event is to offer the audience various insights into the human relationship with food and how our systems in northern Arizona affect this connection, both positively and negatively. How food gets from farms and fields to our dinner tables varies significantly across regions. Therefore, we should consider the unique histories, challenges, diets, and cultures surrounding food.

The event occurs Thursday, September 4th, 2025, at Grace Community Church in Flagstaff.

About the Northern Arizona Hunger Action Partnership (NAHAP)

The Northern Arizona Hunger Action Partnership (NAHAP) was born out of last year’s Summit to turn shared momentum into collective action. Launched in 2024, NAHAP is a regional collaboration working to address hunger and food insecurity through systems-level change and community-driven solutions.

NAHAP is not a single organization, but a network of partners committed to equity, resilience, and long-term impact. The Flagstaff Family Food Center serves as the coordinating backbone, helping convene, connect, and communicate across the region.

This Summit continues that work — and we invite you to join us at the table as we build a stronger, more food-secure Northern Arizona together.

2024 NAAHS Summit Recap

The Flagstaff Family Food Center: Food Bank and Kitchen (FFFC) is dedicated to making a positive impact by providing assistance to those experiencing food insecurity in northern Arizona. We have noticed an increase in the number of individuals and families seeking support at our Kitchen, warehouse, and neighborhood food distribution events, highlighting the growing need for our services.

In light of this, we channeled that energy and enthusiasm surrounding our efforts into something truly transformative: the Northern Arizona Anti-Hunger Summit. On Thursday, May 23rd, the summit brought together experts, leaders, and stakeholders to explore solutions and foster collaboration in addressing food insecurity in our region.

The Summit celebrated individuals and organizations making significant strides in combating hunger and food insecurity. The event featured a distinguished roster of keynote speakers, including Nephi Craig, April Bradham, and William “Bill” Bracken.

The Northern Arizona Anti-Hunger Summit was a great success and great way to network on issues present in our community.  We will be looking forward to next year’s event!
