VOLUNTEER COORDINATOR

Full-time, Salary DOE

Job Description:

The Volunteer Coordinator will recruit, retain and engage volunteers, as well as contribute to the overall mission of the Flagstaff Family Food Center (FFFC). The Volunteer Coordinator is solely responsible for the management of the volunteer program.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Recruiting volunteers throughout the year to ensure all FFFC daily production goals are met. Volunteer groups could include: Individual volunteers, corporations, schools, service groups, faith-based groups and more.
  • Keeping our online volunteer management system (Volunteer Hub) up to date.
  • Coordinating with FFFC managers regarding volunteer needs.
  • Scheduling and confirming volunteers.
  • Welcoming all volunteer groups/individuals and confirm that registration/housekeeping is completed.
  • Responding to all correspondence and/or communication (voicemails and emails) in a timely manner.
  • Working with production to ensure all daily production goals are achieved.
  • Ensuring all volunteers are oriented and trained for all projects and scheduled shift times.
  • Signing off on service hours for all volunteers.
  • Sending timely thank yous to volunteers.
  • Creating a monthly or quarterly volunteer newsletter.
  • Assisting with collecting food donations from volunteers and donors, ensuring the donations are processed correctly.
  • Conducting tours within the facility and warehouse for volunteers (as needed).
  • Developing, implementing, and maintaining volunteer recognition programs/events.
  • Assisting with outside events. Some weekend and evening shifts are required.
  • Along with the Executive Director and Development Director, engaging in community outreach efforts to recruit new volunteers.
  • Performing duties and tasks in a safety sensitive environment.
  • Other duties as assigned.

 

Qualifications & Requirements:

  • Minimum of a High School diploma or equivalent is required; Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree with a focus on Communication or Non-Profit degrees is preferred.
  • 1-2 years of experience working with volunteers or in a similar environment.
  • Must be flexible and able to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Must be able to work productively in a busy, sometimes distracting, and ever-changing environment.
  • A sense of humor, creativity, and willingness to try new things are preferred.
  • Experience speaking to large groups.
  • Solid verbal and written communication skills.
  • Intermediate computer skills with Microsoft Office products.
  • Must have the ability to exercise discretion and independent judgment to accomplish the goals and objectives of the FFFC.
  • Be able to lift and/or move up to 30 pounds.
  • Have a valid driver’s license or ability to qualify for FFFC insurance to drive FFFC vehicles.

OPERATIONS ASSISTANT

Part-time, $13/hour. Schedule is Saturday and Sunday from 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.

Job Description

The Operations Assistant assists the kitchen staff with kitchen duties and grocery recovery. The Operations Assistant will do pick ups and deliveries as needed. He/she will follow a pick up schedule in a timely manner. The Operations Assistant is responsible for unloading all items from the truck and putting them away.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Assist the Cook with meal prep if needed.
  • Help the cook maintain a clean and orderly kitchen.
  • Assist the cook with sorting, labeling and dating all incoming food items making sure the first in; first out rotation method is used and proper disposal of unusable food items in any storage areas.
  • Responsible for setting up the dining room, fill salt and pepper shakers, put forks on trays and clean restrooms daily.
  • Maintain the cleanliness and neat appearance of the interior and exterior of the building daily, making sure the property is free of debris and garbage.
  • Dispose of the garbage and recyclables throughout the day.
  • Help the cook on duty with any closing duties as needed.
  • Must treat everyone with respect and dignity. Remain professional. Remember you are a representative for the Flagstaff Family Food Center while at the food center and during pick ups.
  • Assist the cook as needed when it comes to greeting, orientating and directing the volunteers.
  • Responsible for documenting in the communications log about anything that needs to be logged.
  • Other duties as assigned.
