It is with much gratitude and sadness that the Board of Directors of the Flagstaff Family Food Center: Food Bank and Kitchen announces the resignation of Interim Executive Director, Chris Budwig. Chris Budwig stepped in as Executive Director in January of 2018 and will be resigning due to unexpected health complications.
For the past 11 years, Chris has played a critical role in the development and stabilization of the food center. He has been a volunteer and board member, board president and most recently served in the role of Interim Executive Director. Budwig was integral in orchestrating the merger of FFFC and Northern Arizona Food Bank in 2014. In the last 8 months, he has helped expand services and structure the organization for long term success. Chris will continue to be directly involved with FFFC as a Legacy Board Member.
“Though we are sad to accept his resignation, we are extremely thankful for the unending energy Chris has dedicated to the FFFC. Chris’ passion and enthusiasm have been an example of service to the Flagstaff community. As he takes time to tend to his health, we trust he carries with him the understanding that because of his commitment, passion and effectiveness he has left this organization in the best financial and programmatic position in our history.” FFFC Board President Derek Turner said of the transition.
In light of Chris Budwig’s resignation, the Board of Directors is pleased to announce the appointment of Monica Foos as Interim Executive Director. Monica Foos has been Operations Manager for the food center since January of 2017. She has worked side by side with Chris Budwig in the last 8 months to implement changes to programs in order to better serve the Flagstaff community. With her vast experience in operations management and her familiarity with the needs of FFFC clients and partners, she is uniquely suited to fill this role. The Board of Directors is confident that Monica will successfully guide the organization in Chris’ footsteps, building a strong and sustainable service organization.
