Drastically cuts SNAP , healthcare, and SNAP-Ed, triggering unprecedented demand on food banks. A harmful redistribution of resources away from rural and working families.

HB 2121: OPPOSE – Imposes mandatory SNAP employment/training requirements that add red tape without addressing real barriers to employment, especially in rural northern Arizona. HB 2122: OPPOSE – Restricts DES’s ability to waive SNAP work requirements in high-unemployment or disaster-affected communities, undermining local expertise and localized needs. HB 2165: OPPOSE – Limits SNAP purchases in ways that reduce purchasing power and disproportionately harm families in rural food deserts. HB 2213: SUPPORT – Appropriates funding for free school meals. Children should never go hungry, and this bill directly supports health and learning. HB 2385: SUPPORT – An Arizona state policy that funds Double Up Food Bucks , an extremely effective program that improves nutrition while supporting local farmers.

City of Flagstaff Budget – Food insecurity funding included, reflecting the city’s commitment to anti-hunger initiatives. Hunger Action Month – September officially declared as Hunger Action Month, aligning the City with community-wide efforts to fight hunger. Food Action Plan – Calls for targeted investments and declarations to advance anti-hunger efforts and support ongoing food security efforts in the city. Zoning Code Amendment: SUPPORT – Updates to the city zoning code that allow and encourage urban agriculture. Pushing for community food security in Flagstaff – We are working alongside the City of Flagstaff’s sustainability office to build the city’s Food Action Plan. Q: What’s the difference between the food boxes you give out and the government commodity boxes (also called EFB/St. Mary’s boxes)?

Our food boxes are made from community donations and can include a variety of items like fresh produce, pantry staples, or frozen foods. These don’t have any eligibility requirements. Government commodity boxes such as TEFAP/EFB/St. Mary’s, come from federal programs, contain standardized shelf-stable items, and may have income or household eligibility rules.
